| The Municipality of Botkyrka is situated between Stockholm and Södertälje and covers an area of 197 square kilometres - from Lake Mälaren in the north to the Baltic Sea in the south. In numbers of inhabitants Botkyrka is the fourth largest municipality in Greater Stockholm. Botkyrka comprises seven municipal areas - Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba and Grödinge. A total of 78 500 people live in the municipality and the central municipal administration is in Tumba. In one of Södermanland’s oldest districts with many cultural traditions, Botkyrka encompasses both densely populated urban and sparsely populated rural areas, extensive rambling areas, flourishing agriculture and modern places of work. Botkyrka is one of the most international municipalities in Sweden. Almost a third of the inhabitants have their roots in more than 100 countries around the world. |
